Research blog on the analysis of the strategies used by private interest groups to try to influence the European system of human rights justice
This blog is dedicated to the dissemination of the ANR research project entitled Just_Moral (ANR-22-CE53-0008).
European integration and its enlargement to Eastern countries in 2004 have many legal impacts on human rights and the European human rights justice (the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union). Few but growing studies have examined how NGOs in Europe have applied strategic litigation and beyond legal mobilization. Nonetheless, compared to the US, no comparative study has been undertaken in the field of abortion, surrogacy, LGTBQ rights, euthanasia, prostitution, pornography, counter-terrorism, environmental issues and religious freedom litigated by Christian conservative groups in particular.
Consequently, the main aim pursued by Just_Moral is to analyse how NGOs and private foundations try to influence European courts. In particular, the project will explore the main cases litigated by conservative and liberal groups in order to who the potential cognitive and moral impacts on the Courts. The project will investigate these issues and the ways private interest groups tend to influence the European human rights system through doctrinal, judicial, political and financial tactics.
